The Bionic Woman Spoilers, Speculation & Gossip

NBC has cancelled Bionic Woman

Friday, February 22nd, 2008 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Not really a surprise, but NBC has pulled the plug on Bionic Woman.

Although NBC isn’t talking, I’m told by multiple sources that Bionic staffers were informed late last week that the troubled reboot has indeed been canceled. That means no spring relaunch under new show-runner Jason Cahill — which is too bad. Cahill’s a talented guy (see: The Sopranos), and I was anxious to see what he would do with the show. But I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

NBC is obviously cranky about something with the axes falling all around the studio!

Bionic Woman might not be back after the writer’s strike

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Turns out that last week’s episode of the dismally rated show Bionic Woman was the last episode the show had taped. And because of the writer’s strike stopping production on the show, there is a chance that when the writers get back on the job that the show just won’t go back into production.

I couldn’t get into the show, although I love Crossing Jordan’s Miguel Ferrer.

We’ll keep you updated!

Isaiah Washington joins, um, The Bionic Woman

Well, nothing like getting your butt canned from the hottest television show in years and then deciding your comeback role will be as a recurring character in Bionic Woman. But that is exactly what Isaiah Washington is doing for his career comeback…. sheesh. He will appear in a five episode arc in the show’s freshman season on NBC. And reportedly, NBC is in the planning stage of a new action/drama show which will presumably star Isaiah Washington, and is based on a story idea of his.

I am pretty surprised NBC wants to even touch him with a ten foot pole. But I feel most sorry for those who are already connected to the project now having to put up with him… not exactly the ideal castmate!

Crossing Jordan’s Miguel Ferrer joins The Bionic Woman pilot cast

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com

Crossing Jordan fans have yet another thing to worry about… Miguel Ferrer who plays Garret Macy has signed onto the NBC pilot of The Bionic Woman.

“The Bionic Woman,” a remake of the 1970s series, stars British actress Michelle Ryan as Jaime Sommers, who has body parts replaced with super-strong artificial parts after a horrific accident. Ferrer will play the head of the government agency that rebuilt her, and Bowers (”Rescue Me”) will play her boyfriend.

Ferrer has played Dr. Garret Macy on “Crossing Jordan” for the past six seasons. The HR says that if “Bionic Woman” goes to series, he could possibly remain on both shows; however, he’s the second “Jordan” regular (after Jerry O’Connell) to take pilot work this spring, which may not bode well for its future.

I’d say it’s not looking very good for Crossing Jordan fans.

NBC greenlights a modern Bionic Woman pilot

Saturday, January 6th, 2007 on SpoilerBuzz.com
bionicwoman.jpgRemember the old TV show the Bionic Woman? Well, it is definitely true that what’s old will come back in style again, because NBC has greenlit a new pilot based on the old Bionic Woman series, modernized. The pilot is the brainchild of Battlestar Galactica writer-producer David Eick.

Incase you have forgotten, or its before your time, the Bionic Woman was a mechanically enhanced woman, with the series done as a spin-off from the Million Dollar Man. Lindsay Wagner played Jaime, the Bionic Woman. The original series premiered on ABC, but NBC picked it up after NBC cancelled it (although ABC continued the Million Dollar Man). See, there was network hopping long before Buffy and the O.C.! And coincidentally, USA Networks had planned a pilot based on the show as far back as 2002, but it never materialized.

NBC has only picked up the pilot as “cast-contingent” meaning they have approval of the casting. No word on when this process will take place, but I would guess this is being planned as a potential fall 2007 series.
